Volunteers Needed!

Our Office Staff can use volunteers to help collate, staple, stuff, stamp, and seal, as well as design creative posters, computer generated flyers, etc.  Whatever your gifts are, we need you!  For a minimum amount of effort, you can gain maximum fulfillment.

Sisterhood will be preparing meals for those who are ill at home.  To volunteer or for more information, call Margo Tzadok at 314-434-9774.

Thanks to the many members and friends who made the December, 2007 blood drive a success.
See the Honor Roll.

   Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers Needed for ‘Aging-in-Place’ Program for Seniors

An hour of your time can make all the difference in an older adult’s life. The Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) program, a non-denominational program of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, has opportunities for you to help others in your community. Help out with transportation, minor home repair, yard work, etc.  There are also openings for help with special events and office assistance. For more information, call Anne Myers-Richards at (314) 442-3808.

Creve Coeur Meals on Wheels

This program is in need of drivers and packers, delivering out of St. John’s Mercy Hospital. We need help for a few hours once a week or every other week to sustain shut-ins with meals delivered Monday-Friday between 11:00-12:00 p.m. Call Gail Dollar at (314) 434-6533.

Become an HMLC Docent

Are you interested in teaching history of the Holocaust and its lessons? If you have good communication skills, the HMLC needs you to lead tours for diverse groups. Time commitment flexible; may include weekdays, evening, and Sundays. No prior experience required. Training provided. For more information or to sign up, please call (314) 442-3714.

Kosher Meals on Wheels

Volunteers are needed to deliver hot kosher meals to the homebound in the University City area. For more information, please call Florence Schachter at (314) 991-2055

At our High Holiday services, Shelby Kopp made a request that we reach out to members of our congregation who are ill or homebound.  We are in the process of forming a sub-committee that will operate within the Chesed Committee and hope that many of you will join our efforts.  We anticipate needing your assistance in making phone calls, sending notes or cards, providing transportation, doing simple errands such as picking up groceries or prescriptions, or making brief visits.  Please consider how you can make a difference in someone's life.

If you would like to join in this endeavor, please call one of us.  Thanks!

 Torah Reader

Since the weekly Torah reading cycle of 5754 (1993-1994) we have been publishing weekly in our Shabbat Announcements a commentary on the Weekly Torah Portion written by one of our congregants.  This is a very special project here at Traditional Congregation. We are looking for additional congregants to volunteer to study a Torah Portion and share their insights with the congregation.  You need not be anxious about the quality of your commentary, every person's insight is important for the rest of us.  To sign-up for a Torah Portion assignment, contact Zumi Brody at 314-576-5930.
